Transparency first

We believe you should always know how a website you rely on makes its money. This page explains, in plain language, how havenago (havenago.com) is funded — as required by consumer protection rules such as the FTC Endorsement Guides in the United States and the EU Unfair Commercial Practices and consumer transparency rules in Europe.

How havenago earns money

havenago participates in the Booking.com affiliate programme through CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction), one of the world's largest affiliate marketing networks. Most hotel links on our site are affiliate links. When you click such a link, a tracking cookie records that you arrived at Booking.com from havenago. If you then complete a booking — and actually stay — Booking.com pays us a small commission through CJ Affiliate.

What this means for you

  • No extra cost: you pay exactly the same price on Booking.com whether you arrive through our link or go there directly. The commission is paid out of Booking.com's own margin, never added to your bill.
  • No booking on our site: havenago never handles your reservation, payment or personal booking details. Everything happens securely on Booking.com under their terms.
  • No hidden sponsorships: hotels cannot pay us to be featured, and we do not accept payment for placement, rankings or reviews.

Our editorial independence

Every hotel on havenago is hand-picked by us on editorial grounds: location, guest review scores, value for money, character and how well it suits the neighbourhood we describe. Commission rates play no role in which hotels we recommend or how we rank them. We say so openly when a neighbourhood is noisy, overpriced or better skipped — honest advice is the whole point of this site. If a hotel stops meeting our standards, we remove it, regardless of how well its links perform.

Why we use the affiliate model

Affiliate commissions keep havenago free to read, free of banner ads, free of paywalls and free of newsletter pop-ups. It is the least intrusive way we know to fund independent travel content: you only support us if our recommendation was good enough that you actually booked it.

How to recognise affiliate links

As a rule of thumb: any button or link on havenago that leads to Booking.com is an affiliate link. Links to other resources — official tourism boards, transport operators or city guides — are ordinarily not.

Questions?

If anything about our affiliate relationships is unclear, or you believe a recommendation was influenced by anything other than editorial judgement, please tell us at hello@havenago.com. We take that trust seriously.
